Breast augmentation increases breast size and improves shape using implants (silicone or saline) or, in selected cases, the patient's own fat. It can restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss, balance asymmetry and create a fuller, more proportionate figure tailored to your body.

The most common questions about this treatment
Silicone implants feel the most natural and are the most popular; saline is an alternative; fat transfer gives a modest, natural increase without implants but with less size change. Your surgeon recommends the option that best matches your anatomy and goals.
Implants are durable but not lifetime devices. Many last many years, but they may need replacement later due to wear, rupture or changes in your preferences. Occasional check-ups and imaging are advised.
Many women can still breastfeed after augmentation, especially when the incision and implant position preserve the milk ducts and nerves. Tell your surgeon if future breastfeeding is important so the approach can be planned accordingly.
There is initial swelling and the implants sit high at first. They gradually 'drop and fluff' into a natural position and softer feel over about 3 months as tissues relax.
Most patients stay about 5–7 days, covering the consultation and sizing, the surgery and a post-operative check before flying home with aftercare guidance.

Breast augmentation places an implant either behind the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle, through a discreet incision. Implant type, size, shape and position are chosen with you to match your anatomy and goals. Fat transfer is an alternative for modest, natural enlargement. Implants are not lifetime devices and may need future replacement.
Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia:
Consultation & sizing — implant type, size, shape and incision are planned to suit your anatomy.
Incision & pocket — a discreet incision is made and a pocket created above or below the chest muscle.
Implant placement — the implant (or transferred fat) is positioned and symmetry checked.
Recovery — a support bra is worn; most go home the same day or after one night.
You may be a suitable candidate if you:
Want more breast volume or improved shape
Have lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss
Have breast asymmetry you would like balanced
Are at a stable weight, in good health and a non-smoker (or can stop)
Have realistic expectations and understand implants may need future surgery

Soreness and tightness; support bra worn; rest
Most return to desk work; avoid lifting

Implants settle into a natural position and feel
Implants are durable but not lifetime devices; occasional check-ups are advised and replacement may be needed years later.
Breast augmentation is very common and generally safe, but risks include capsular contracture (firm scar tissue around the implant), implant rupture or leakage, changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry, and the small risks of anaesthesia. A rare condition (BIA-ALCL) has been linked to certain textured implants. Implants may need replacement over time, and follow-up imaging is advised. An experienced surgeon and quality implants reduce risks.
