FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the modern hair-transplant standard. Individual follicles are harvested one by one from the donor area with a micro-punch and placed into the thinning areas, leaving no linear scar. It restores a natural hairline and density with a quick, comfortable recovery.

The most common questions about this treatment
Both extract follicles individually with no linear scar. In FUE, recipient channels are opened first and grafts are then placed. In DHI, a Choi pen opens the site and implants the graft in one step, allowing higher density. Your surgeon advises which suits your case.
No linear scar. FUE harvests follicles one by one, leaving only tiny dot-like marks in the donor area that are hidden once the surrounding hair grows, even at short lengths.
Transplanted hairs shed within the first 2–8 weeks (shock loss), which is normal. New growth begins around month 3–4, thickens by months 6–9 and reaches the full result at about 12 months.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you feel no pain during it. Most discomfort is limited to the initial numbing injections; mild tenderness afterwards settles within a few days.
Most patients stay 2–3 days, covering the consultation and donor assessment, the transplant session and a first wash with aftercare guidance before flying home.

FUE removes follicular units individually from the back and sides of the scalp (the donor area), where hair is resistant to thinning. Tiny recipient channels are opened and the grafts are placed at a natural angle and direction. Because there is no strip of skin removed, FUE leaves only tiny dot-like marks rather than a linear scar.
FUE is performed in a single day under local anaesthesia:
Consultation & design — the donor area is assessed and a natural hairline is planned with you.
Extraction — follicular units are harvested one by one with a micro-punch from the donor area.
Channel opening — tiny recipient sites are created at the correct angle, depth and direction.
Implantation — grafts are placed into the channels; a first wash and aftercare guidance follow.
You may be a suitable candidate if you:
Have pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) that has stabilised
Have a healthy donor area at the back/sides of the scalp
Want to cover a larger area or restore an even hairline
Are in good general health
Have realistic expectations about coverage and timeline

Mild redness and small scabs; most return to routine
Scabs clear; gentle washing as instructed
Shock loss — transplanted hairs shed (normal)
New hair starts to grow
Full, final result
The first 10 days are most important for protecting the grafts. Shedding before regrowth is part of the normal hair cycle, not a failure of the transplant.
FUE is minimally invasive and performed under local anaesthesia, so serious complications are uncommon. Possible effects include temporary swelling, redness, small scabs, numbness and itching during healing, and temporary shock loss. Rare risks include infection or folliculitis, or uneven density if aftercare is not followed. An experienced team and careful washing protect your result.
